Laidig enters 36A State Representative race
Lakeville
(MN) – Dave Laidig received the DFL endorsement
to be the State Representative for District 36A picking
up where the former candidate, Mark Solomon, left off.
Solomon will leave the race due to a job relocation
that takes him and his family out of state. “My
family and I will miss all of our friends, supporters
and this beautiful place. But, I know that I leave my
political service commitment to Lakeville in very capable
hands with Dave.”
In a speech following the endorsement, Dave Laidig thanked
Solomon for his commitment to serving the entire community,
and vowed to carry that message to the voters in November.
“We deserve a true representative at the Capitol,
not politicians focused on political party wins and
losses and the next election cycle.”
As a graduate from the University of Minnesota and Iowa
State University, Laidig has a diverse education that
mirrors his broad work experience. “As an attorney,
I have advocated for individual victims of crime, and
for business owners who have been wronged.” He
went on to discuss his experiences working with youths
with chemical dependency and with patients with traumatic
brain injuries. He conveyed that his commitment to public
service has led him to volunteer with the Red Cross,
Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations.
Laidig continued, “With your support, I will put
my real world experience to work, and advocate for every
Lakeville citizen at the State Capitol.”
Laidig told the audience that his priority will be to
correct the mismanagement of public funds at the State
Capitol. “A lack of forward thinking has created
an inefficient system where property taxes have increased
four dollars for every dollar cut from local government
allocations.” Laidig explained that, under the
current leadership, property owners are carrying a bigger
share of the tax burden than they did four years ago.
Laidig continued to highlight the relative lack of public
investment that has been demonstrated to benefit the
public. “We are living with a transportation system
designed in the seventies, and our leaders are in stubborn
denial that our needs are changing. We need to rid ourselves
of credit card politicians and elect someone who will
make sound financial decisions for the benefit of the
entire community.”
“Health care costs are predicted to double in
the next four years, our children are facing more crowded
classrooms, and they will be the ones saddled with the
debt of our shortsightedness. Now is the time to do
something about it.”
Laidig considers his availability to citizens a priority
